Born in 1960, Partho Sarothy is one of the finest musicians of India. He is one of the premier disciples of Sitar Maestro Ravi Shankar. Sarothy’s renditions express the true heritage of Indian Classical Music, a tradition lasting since several millennia.

Sarothy started his musical tutelage under his father, Sudhamoy Chowdhury, a disciple of the great Sarod Maestro Radhika Mohan Maitra. He then took lessons for nearly a decade from Ustad Dhyanesh Khan, son and disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Since 1980, Partho has been training under 3 times-Grammy recipient Pandit Ravi Shankar who has also trained George Harrison, Yehudi Menuhin, Philipp Glass, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and many other musical legends.

Alokesh Chandra was initiated into Indian Classical Music in 1996 by Maestro Shyamal Chatterjee of Calcutta. After 4 years of dedicated training in Calcutta Alokesh moved to New Delhi and London to train under Ravi Shankar. Since 2005 Alokesh has also received guidance and training from Partho Sarothy. He has performed numerous Sitar Recitals in Europe, Near East and Asia. Currently he is touring Israel.

Partho Sarothy and Alokesh Chandra will be accompanied by a brilliant TABLA PLAYER from Calcutta – ASHIS PAUL. Ashis is a disciple of legendary tabla master Anindo Chatterjee.
